2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison AEV – The 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 will soon be on the market. It features some class-leading hardware and is designed to take passengers and cargo far into the great unknown. It starts at $67,995 US. MC&T has learned that Chevrolet is working hard to develop an off-road version of the ZR2. It will likely be called the Bison because it will again include American Expedition Vehicles (AEV).
2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison Review
Our friends at GM-Trucks shared spy photos of a ZR2 with new parts, a covered face, and some speculation that it could have been a roadworthy version of the Chevrolet Off-Road Concept. Although it is possible that parts from the “Beast” may be found in the Chevrolet Performance Accessories catalogs, there are no signs of a supercharged Silverado project. We’ve already reported this multiple times.
We first reported on Silverado ZR2 before anyone else, and we have never been wrong about our future product reporting. So we used this opportunity to clarify what everyone thinks will happen. The Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison will be available for 2023. It will use the same formula as the Colorado ZR2 Bison. This means that there will be no changes to the engine. Instead, the emphasis will be on strengthening the underbelly with larger skid plates made from hot-stamped boron and rock sliders. These will keep the truck’s paint and body safe from the dangerous obstacles of the dusty trail. The spy photos also showed the wheels of the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison. We would have seen AEV exclusive wheels if they were not. This will help to differentiate the Silverado ZR2 Bison. This truck is expected to have a unique bumper and grille design.
While Ford and Ram seem fixated on Baja off-road truck routes with their respective F-150 Raptor or Ram TRX trucks, Chevrolet seems determined to create the most rock-crawling pickup trucks possible. The Colorado ZR2 Bison is a great success story for both Chevrolet & AEV. Dealers have been grabbing every bit of the rugged, mid-sized truck they can over the years. This success story could continue in the full-size, half-ton truck space. It could, although we’ve been informed once before that the rock-crawling/Overlanding type of vehicle buyer tends to prefer either the smaller midsize truck or the more imposing HD truck. Half-ton buyers tend to be more Baja-inspired and high-octane when it comes down to off-road performance. This would place the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison right in the middle of the pack. The Big Bison is a great car if it’s priced correctly.
2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison AEV Future
American Expedition Vehicles may eventually offer its own AEV Bison package for the Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison 2023 Chevrolet Silverado ZR2 Bison if demand is strong. This could happen within a year of the rollout of the factory version. The Chevrolet Colorado ZR2 Bison was also affected. Major upgrades included a 35-inch tire, snorkel, bumper with integrated winch, HighMark Fenders, upgraded axle ratio, off-road lighting kit, and a bumper that had an integrated winch. This would be a serious Silverado. We’ll be looking for the package as we approach 2024.
