2023 Tesla Cybertruck – The Tesla Cybertruck’s mass production is likely to be hindered by a continuing shortage of chips. Tesla Cybertruck’s mass production has been affected by the shortage of chips, Elon Musk, co-founder, and CEO acknowledged during the Q2 2021 earnings call. He said that Tesla is working to resolve the problem.
Musk stated that Tesla Semi and Tesla Cybertruck are heavy users of cell bandwidth, so the company must ensure that this crucial component is always available. Although the company could start making vehicles immediately, it would be losing a lot of money per truck.
2023 Tesla Cybertruck Update
Musk updated the Cybertruck’s series production during the Tesla Cyber Rodeo at Giga Texas, on April 7, 2022. Musk stated that Tesla aims to produce half a million units annually with one model – Model Y – at this plant. It will begin manufacturing the Cybertruck at this plant in 2023. We’ve already discussed the evolution of the electric truck that the company displayed at the event.
Let’s go back a bit. Musk explained why Tesla did not start Cybertruck production in the full-year 2021 earnings conference call. Musk stated that it was not a good idea to launch the Cybertruck in 2021 if the company isn’t going to be able to deliver it in sufficient quantities. Musk stated that the situation was the same this year and Tesla might not start Cybertruck production until 2023. Due to a new delay in production, the company pulled the estimates (2022), from its website before 2021.
The Cybertruck was originally announced by Tesla in single-motor RWD and dual-motor AWD versions. These variants are said to have a range of 250+, 300+, and 500+ miles. There are signs that the company may be changing the specification and variant lineup. The Cybertruck could still have a range exceeding 500 miles in one variant.
A new type of battery will allow you to achieve a range of over 500 miles. This cell is called 4680 and measures 80 mm in length and 46 mm in diameter. It can provide 5X energy, 6X power, and 16% more range. These improvements were revealed by Andrew Baglino (Senior Vice President, Powertrain and Energy Engineering at Tesla) at the Tesla Battery Day event in September 2020.
The Tesla Cybertruck’s polarizing design has been a major feature of the vehicle since its inception. Although Tesla suggested that the design of the wedge-shaped pickup be changed for production, it is unlikely to do so. The Cybertruck sets a new standard for quirky pickup designs, but it isn’t as original as many think. Cybertruck’s design patent application to the USPTO shows similarities with several classic and early 2000s models. According to a report by electric.co, Tesla has cited design examples of classic sports cars, an off-roader, and even a pickup bed cover that looks aerodynamic in the Cybertruck’s patent application.
2023 Tesla Cybertruck Reservations Review
You can reserve the Tesla Cybertruck with a USD 100 deposit, regardless of your desired configuration. Teslarati reported that Tesla had already received 1.2 million preorders for its Cybertruck (an estimate of 1,268,768 units). The most popular configuration among early-bird buyers, with 47.9% of pre-orders, is the dual-motor. With a 44.8% share, tri-motor is the second most popular configuration. The single-motor configuration is only 7.3% of pre-orders. Tesla has not given any guidance regarding the exact numbers and, in most cases, only a small percentage of reservations convert into firm orders.
