Jordan, a reader, spotted a camouflaged pickup in Las Vegas. It’s believed to be a prototype for the new-generation Toyota Tacoma. The camouflage is so thick that it doesn’t allow for the test mule any visible except two horizontal grille bars with double slats and an amber light under the headlamp. The unusual extension of camouflage under the tailgate suggests that Toyota may be concealing a new rear suspension system for the Tundra.

The Tacoma could have a multi-link rear suspension, similar to the Tundras. It could also switch from leaf springs to coil springs. This could improve handling dynamics, straight-line stability, and comfort, as well as increase the vehicle’s overall ride quality. This revealed new information. A closer look at the spy photos revealed a new cab configuration. Although the current model is available in Access Cab 6-ft. and Crew Cab 5-ft. beds, the spy photos showed that there was no Crew Cab 6-ft. version. The spied pickup appeared to be none of these.

The TNGA F platform, which debuted in the new-generation Land Cruiser, will most likely be the foundation of the next-generation Tacoma with a few modifications. It’s also known as Global F-Platform and GA-F platform. The platform is part of the TNGA Family and underpins the Lexus LX and Tundra. The platform is designed for body-on-frame vehicles and offers weight savings, improved ride quality, and quietness as well as collision safety performance.

The TNGA F platform was added to the Land Cruiser 300. It provided additional benefits such as a lower center of gravity and better weight distribution. The GA-F frame also allowed for the relocation of shock absorbers in the LX. This improved ride comfort and reduced body roll was a benefit.

The availability of a hybrid powertrain could make Toyota Tacoma’s next-generation 2023 a significant improvement. Toyota may offer a 2.5-liter D-4S gasoline engine, which can be combined with an electric motor (2WD) or two electric motors (4WD), as well as an additional traction battery. However, the company has not provided any guidance on the powertrain strategy for future Tundras. This is speculation at best.

According to rumors, Toyota will merge the North American Tacoma and Hilux models, which are popular around the globe, into one model. According to reports, the Hilux will get a hybrid system. It should be redesigned around a year after Tacoma. Ford plans to offer a hybrid Ranger variant in its next generation and possibly even an electric vehicle. Toyota could be making preparations for the future by offering a hybrid Ranger. The Tacoma Hybrid could borrow some of the technology from the Tundra Hybrid’s electrification. This motor system is called i-Force Max and it features a bell-housing motor. The motor-generator is located in the bell housing between engine and transmission. This allows for efficient deployment of the electric power stored within the traction battery. Toyota has created a new Power Control Unit for Tundra Hybrid’s engine. The battery that stores the green energy in the hybrid pickup is a Nickel Metal Hydride, (NiMH) battery. It is located under the rear passenger seat.

U.S.-developed infotainment systems

The new infotainment system was developed in Texas and will be available in the next-generation Toyota Tacoma. It was announced in June 2021. The infotainment system, called Lexus Interface in 2022 Lexus NX or Toyota Audio in 2022 Toyota Tundra is available with touchscreens measuring between 8 and 14 inches diagonally. This new system includes pinch-and-zoom functions for smartphones and tablets, Bluetooth Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility and cloud-based navigation. It also offers savable user profiles, OTA update notifications, and cloud-based navigation. The package also includes a physical volume controller, which is a large, easy-to-use dial.
