2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone – Toyota recognizes that pickups are no longer just for work and are bringing luxury to the truck market. The 1794 and Platinum were its top Tundra trims, and they had both Western and urban versions of pickup luxury. Capstone now offers more standard features, including standard all-wheel drive, chrome 22-inch tires, and better quality interior materials, including genuine walnut accents, and aniline leather upholstery.
2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone Redesign
Capstone also offers the Toyota iForce Max hybrid powertrain as standard equipment. It produces 437 horsepower and 538 lbft of torque. An electric motor assist is added to the Tundra’s 10-speed auto, increasing its power output by 48 hp. The base model SR work trucks are equipped with a 3.5-liter turbo V6 that produces 348 hp as well as 405 lbft of torque.
Only one model of the 2023 Toyota Tundra Capstone is available. It’s a 5-passenger, 4-door crew cab with a cargo bed measuring 5.5 feet. You can choose the 1794 Edition or Platinum trim if you need almost the same equipment as the longer 6.5-footbed. The hybrid powertrain is more powerful and has a solid fuel economy due to its output and all-wheel drive nature. The 2023 Tundra Capstone will be able to achieve 19 mpg in the city, 22 highway mpg, and 21 combined mpg. This is 2 mpg better than the city’s non-hybrid powertrain. The new engine delivers smooth power and a lot of acceleration. It also comes standard in all-wheel-drive TRD Pro. Tundra can tow more than 11,000 pounds with the iForce Max.
The Capstone has all the luxury trappings, including supple leather and wood trim. It also features a standard panoramic sunroof. There is ample space in the rear row and the 3-passenger front bench. The dash is dominated by a 14-inch infotainment display. Toyota uses a tried-and-true gearshift lever for transmission, instead of using a dial or another button arrangement like some competitors. A 12.3-inch digital instrument screen and a 10-inch color head-up display are also available on the Capstone.
Toyota joins a growing number of manufacturers offering a virtual voice assistant. To turn on the system, say “Hey Toyota”. With voice commands, users can control vehicle systems and set destination navigation. Tundra Capstone also includes wireless Apple CarPlay (and Android Auto connectivity). The Tundra Capstone, a luxury cruiser, is quieter than its predecessor’s thanks to the laminated acoustic windows on the windscreen and doors. The engine, wind, and tire noises are minimal, and the ride is smooth and comfortable thanks to the independent rear suspension. The steering feels crisp and much more agile than its footprint would indicate.
Tundra Capstone is equipped with Toyota Safety Sense 2.5, which includes a pre-collision system that detects pedestrians, automatic emergency braking, steering assist, and steering assistance. It also has blind-spot monitoring, lane centering, lane departure alert, adaptive cruise control activation, and lane centering. Automatic braking is included to avoid hitting fixed objects.
