Apocalypse is one of the most well-known manufacturers of 6×6 vehicles. They have made a name for themselves in making Jeep Gladiators truly monsters. There are three Gladiator-based models: the Hellfire and Sinister 6. A striking Hellfire model is available on eBay.

Apocalypse Hellfire models are quite wild, but this one stands out because it has what the car builder calls an “Oculus Tron front bumper”. This replaces the Jeep’s regular headlights with an LED light bar. It is similar to the light bar on the Tesla Cybertruck. Other changes were made to the Hellfire model, as well as other Hellfire models.

The Gladiator, for example, has a unique front bumper and grille with two large red tow hooks. The new windshield frame is also included. It has large side steps that allow for easy access. Apocalypse also installed Kevlar Fenders and a lockable cover on the long bed.

The Gladiator is equipped with a beefed-up suspension, and a Hellcat V8 6.2-liter supercharged Hellcat tuned to produce no less than 775 horsepower. Although some 6×6 conversions don’t have the six-wheel drive, the Hellfire sends its power to all six wheels. It’s not surprising that a vehicle such as this is expensive to buy. It is listed at $219,999. It’s quite expensive, but we didn’t expect all the mods to be so cheap.

Daimler is determined to fix this problem so they hosted an event to reveal their trucking sector electrification strategy. The Mercedes GenH2 concept, a heavy-duty fuel cell truck designed for long-distance hauling, was the big news. The GenH2 concept is designed to be similar to the Actros long-haul truck. It has a gross vehicle weight of 40 tonnes and a payload of 25 tons. It also has two liquid-hydrogen storage tanks that each hold 88 lbs (40 kilograms).

A 300 kW fuel cell system has been added to the concept, as well as a battery that can temporarily supply 400 kW more power. The battery is 70 kWh in capacity and can provide “situational power support for fuel cells, such as during peak loads when accelerating or driving uphill fully-loaded.” Two electric motors will power the truck’s pre-production unit. They each produce 443 horsepower (330 kW/ 449 PS) at peak and 1,527 lbft (2.071 Nm). They have a lower continuous output of 308 HP (230 kW/ 312 PS) as well as 1,163 Lb-ft (1577Nm). Semis aren’t particularly exciting but the main takeaway from the GenH2 is that it will be eco-friendly, have an approximate range of 621 miles (1 000 km), and only require one tank of hydrogen. This makes it ideal for long-haul travel.

Although the GenH2 is technically only a concept, Mercedes has confirmed that it will be producing a model. Customers will be able to test the GenH2 in 2023 before going into series production, which is scheduled for the second half of this decade. Although the GenH2 was the main model, it wasn’t the only truck that was introduced today. Daimler also showed the Mercedes eActros LongHaul, a long-haul battery-powered truck that is “designed for regular journeys along plannable routes in a cost-efficient manner.” The eActros LongHaul will cover approximately 311 miles (500km) and is expected to be in production by 2024. Mercedes did not release any details but stated that the European Union regulations required truck drivers to take at least 45 minutes off after every 4.5-hour drive. This will allow you to recharge and provide energy for your journey.

Although 2024 is still a long way off, Daimler said that the eActros distribution transport vehicle – originally introduced in 2018 – will be put into production next year. Daimler stated that the model will be capable of “significantly exceeding” the prototype’s range (around 124 miles, 200 km). Martin Daum from Daimler said that “We are consistent in pursuing our vision for CO2-neutral transportation with a focus upon the genuinely locally carbon-neutral technologies battery power, and hydrogen-based fuel cell, which has the potential of succeeding in the market over the long term.” This combination allows us to offer our customers the best vehicle options, depending upon the application.” Martin Daum said that battery-powered trucks are better for lighter cargo and shorter distances while fuel-cell models will be preferred for heavier loads and longer distances.
